Photolearn
is
part of Commercial Photography.
Our studio covers a wide range of photography, mainly for media
advertising, brochure, and website use. We also have another business,
People Pics, which deals mainly with wedding and model photography.
The businesses are run by Garry Edwards
A
short bio
A
burning desire to become a professional photographer, back in the days
when higher education was difficult for working class lads like me....
O
levels, A levels and then a degree course. Then a 'job' as a trainee,
then as 2nd assistant, then 1st assistant - all necessary back then
before I could call myself a professional photographer.
Then
loads of different jobs in various types of photography, working with
and for some of the top London photographers.
Then
self-employment, and an even wider range of photography. In fact I've
done just about every kind of photography except photojournalism, and
it's taken me to loads of places I can't even pronounce (and I'm not
talking about Wales...)
And
now, not too far off retirement, I have a bit of time to pass my knowledge
and experience on to you.
These
training courses are a labour of love. They have developed almost by
accident - I run one-2-one courses on studio photography in our Yorkshire
studios, and I used to provide my students with Course Notes for their
further support. These Notes became the basis for the very comprehensive
training courses listed here. They have been completely re-written and
expanded to cover the subjects fully, and to completely overcome the
difficulty of learning anything worthwhile without going through the
learning process that I had to follow myself. And the latest improvement
to my service is a set of videos
on some of our tutorial subjects - videos are the ideal way to learn,
because you just can't beat actually seeing how it's done!
My latest project involves authoring the first ever City & Guilds
course on digital photography.
In
addition to the paid work, I am one of the Moderators on www.photo.net
and
I also contribute occasional articles to www.photographers.co.uk
and I also run the photographers.co.uk
forum. I also set aside a little time to local college photography
courses - I feel that it's good to share specialised knowledge with
other people.
Training
Courses
There are some people believe that training in photography is irrelevant
and that skills can be picked up by experience alone. Even if that's
true of outdoor photography it certainly doesn't work in the studio
and our one-day private courses, priced at only £470 including
VAT, easily pay for themselves just with the money saved by not buying
the wrong kind of equipment. Please click here
